The Lancashire Lass sat down to tea
And the Aunties began their stories
So she biked to the cliffs
And slid down to the beach
Near Blackpool by the sea
The Lancashire Lass had her sports and her teams
But she fell in love with the piano
While she earned her degree,
She first met the Swami
And the Spiritualists of London Town
Farewell to the Aunties, Farewell to London Town
Farewell to the Welsh town where her strength she regained
She's bound with her family
To a new destiny
And Adventures in Canada
Yes, she visited that little Welsh town by train
She worked on a farm and she taught me how to say the name
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
Come autumn she'd found work in Montreal
Come winter she' never felt colder
She conducted the choirs
Just to keep herself warm
And taught piano at the faculty
But when summer came round those adventures she found
Where her sister worked as a midwife
Paddling two days by canoe
To do what they had to do
Those Lancashire Lassies two
And once on Entry Island she played for the wake
Of an old lighthouse man who had but one hand
She looked up from her music book and
EEE, ther was 'is 'ook
As the mourners sang “Abide with me”
(let me tell you about that little Welsh town again
Where she worked on a farm and taught me how to say the name)
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
The match makers found her a whirlwind romance
And he asked her “Will you marry”
She said “yes” and then
He asked her “When ?”
And the Lancashire Lass said “Soon”!
Soon enough came the kids, soon the piano was gone
One day she had to chase a rat from the baby
Then her tenant gave birth in the bath
She got them safe and warm and laughed
about her Adventures in Canada
'Tis a gift to be simple, a gift to be true
Time came again for her piano
Then she taught and she played
And the Maharishi stayed
In her home with his incense and flowers
(lyric replaced by lilting melody except for
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
The Lancashire Lass could play Chopin to Bach
She did Albert and Carnegie
The very last time she played for me
There was love, tranquillity
And the wonder of “Claire de Lune”
Instrumental follows with “Abide with me” repeated

When I was a lad, come every Sunday noon,
I listened to the broadcast of the Folk Song Show
Glad songs and sad songs
On the Folk Song Show
There were songs of the sea, the shanties sailors sang
As they were hauling up the sails to speed the great tall ships
Sing sailors, sing ho, sad songs and glad
On the radio
I loved the simple songs of the deep, deep south
With the banjos all a'strummin' to the melodies
Sing in the field men, a plantin' to the melodies
Sing in the field men, a plantin' of your corn.
There were lovers' songs so tender and the maiden's sweet reply
Then their voices blended richly in sweet harmony.
Sing lovers, sing sweetly
On the radio
Laments that brought tears, when loved ones passed away
And we were left to mourn their passing with a deep sorrow.
Sad mourners singing, church bells a'tolling
On the radio
The cheerful songs of spring, when nature springs to life
When flowers bloom again and all the trees are green
Sing children sing, for here comes the spring.
All my life I've loved to sing, and play on my guitar
And write more songs and sing them too, for folks who really care.
Sing, then oh sing
Let your music fill the air
As we sing merry songs
To drive away all care.

Sweet Dreams for Bill

Sweet Dreams, my love
Head on your pillow
Sweet Dreams, my love
And sleep enfold you.
In dreams we'll meet
Through the magic of night
Though many oceans part us.
Sweet Dreams, my love,
Stars shine above you
Sweet Dreams, my love,
Moonbeams through your window
Shining so bright in the dark of the night,
Those silvery beams surround me.
And some day, my darling, the stars will shine,
And span the skies, and span the years, 'til you are mine.
Charm me asleep in the hush of the night and give me peaceful slumber.
Moonbeams are made of silver
Sunbeams are made of gold
And I will catch them for you
To hold them in my hand
Twist them in a halo
To make a magic band,
That shines with the stars
In the heavens above
To bring you my sweet dreams of love.
Charm me asleep in the hush of the night
And bring home my darling
Swiftly and safely home to me

Love of Life

Love is life, life is love
Find your love, love of your life
Hold in your heart that come what may
The gift of love will come your way
As you dreamed they would, dreams do come true.
You were dreaming too, hoping for the day
When our paths would lead us together
Never to part; two souls in love
Life is love, love is life
Find your love and let your hearts be as one
Love made your dreams come to life.

Go to sleep, my baby,
You are my delight,
Angels guard your slumber
'til the morning light
Precious little baby,
Smiling in your sleep,
What could you be dreaming of
In your sleep so deep?
Mother's always near you,
Just in case you cry,
She will come and rock you,
And sing a lullabye.

Lullabye baby asleep in your little bed
Angels will guard you with tender care.
Lullabye baby sweet dreams thro' the night time and
Waken when the morning sunshine is here.
Now you're so tiny and need to be rocked to sleep.
Soon you'll be walking and talking too!
Then you will know that we love and cherish you
Welcome to our home and May God Bless You!

Lullabye my tiny child, may angels guard you thro' the night
Sleep on my little one, sleep on and dream your dreams of pure delight.
Lullabye my dearest babe,
Sleep warm and safe 'til morning light
And have no fear, my darling child, as I sing your lullabye,
Your lullabye
Your lullabye
Your lullabye
